I had the fortune to host William Beauvais, my former teacher and mentor and an absolute legend in Canadian classical guitar and contemporary composition, at my house for a week at the end of August before he moved to the UK after retiring from York University. We kept busy, musically – stay tuned for an album-length collection of improvised duos we recorded! We also played “Girl from Ipanema” and “St. James Infirmary” at a jazz jam at the Harbour Jazz and Blues Festival, with William singing – how he often likes to perform these days.
